The evolution of raku teabowls has its origins in zen buddhism. For the potter it all begins with the harvesting of the raw materials: clays, minerals and metal oxides. Then he prepares his engobes, terra sigillata, ashes and glazes. Chawans, teapots, chaïres are shaped by hand by molding or turning. The firing is done in a wood-burning cross draft kiln, in a coal-fired kiln or in an anagama kiln. Chemins d’argile offers workshops in pottery and techniques for the construction of wood-fired kilns built using raw clay. From China, by way of Korea and Japan, the art of tea has circumnavigated the globe to arrive inFrance, allowing us to share a bowl of matcha among the oak and chestnut forests of the Dordogne.
